Financial Support
There are a number of Financial Support options offered by the University and the College. These are listed below together with their respective application processes:
If you have any queries regarding your finances, e.g. financial hardship, budgeting, payment plans, Student Finance then please contact Justa Gabrowska, the Student Finance Officer on student.finance@lmh.ox.ac.uk. If you find yourself in difficult financial situation, it is important you communicate with us. We can deal sensitively with issues of student financial support, and helping students who find themselves in financial difficulties or in need of professional and supportive guidance.
The College's Grants Committee meets regularly to consider applications for financial assistance. Students can apply for assistance with living costs, i.e. accommodation, as well as assistance with academic development. Applications for support can also be considered for 'Chair's Action' outside of the scheduled meetings, by emailing the Student Finance Officer.
Oxford Assistance Fund
The Oxford Assistance Fund programme aims to assist students who are experiencing financial difficulty. Enrolled and suspended students with Home fee status who have a shortfall in their finances will be assessed by the Student Fees and Funding team and considered for a grant of up to £3,000.
For all other students: students must be experiencing unexpected and unforeseeable financial difficulties due to circumstances which could not have been predicted at the start of their course. Applications from non-Home fee status students are assessed by the University Hardship Committee at its termly meeting, applications must be submitted by Friday of Week 1 of each term. Students are considered for an award of up to £8,000 (usually a combination of a grant and a loan at this level), but this is only offered once for the full duration of your course.

All applications to this fund are also assessed by College for financial support from College funds.
University Student Support Fund Bursary
The purpose of this fund is to help UK undergraduates who commenced their course in the 2020/21 academic year or later, are currently enrolled, and who may require financial assistance in a range of circumstances, ranging from a shortfall in their finances to help meeting additional exceptional costs after they have started their course. A non-repayable bursary of between £50 and £750 is available. All first degree undergraduates ordinarily resident in the UK (usually students with Home fee status) who commenced their course in the 2020/21 academic year or later, are currently enrolled, and have a household income of less than £62,311 (as determined by their Student Funding agency) are eligible to apply for the bursary.
Applications for the 2023/24 academic year will be accepted by the Student Fees and Funding team on a rolling basis from Week 0 of Michaelmas term until Week 8 of Trinity term.

LMH Financial Support Fund
LMH also offers its own Student Support Fund, which is available to all current members of the JCR and MCR. The maximum amount awarded is £500 and aims to help with relatively minor but unforeseeable expenses. Link to the application form can be found here. Financial support for hardship above £500 level is available via Oxford Financial Assistance (OFA).
LMH Academic Development Grant
The LMH Grants and Student Support Committee may be able to offer financial assistance for exceptional course-related academic expenses, such as: presentation of a paper at a conference, research visits, exceptional research expenses, language courses relevant to degree, equipment for clinical medics. This fund is open to both undergraduate and post-graduate students; unfortunately, visiting students are not eligible to apply.
It is important that you carefully read the notes for guidance which are included at the start of the online application form. Completed applications must be submitted by noon on Friday of 3rd Week of each term. Applications will be acknowledged after the closing date and outcomes notified by 7th Week. Amalgamated Sport Club
LMH team sport captains or individuals who are member of University Sports Teams are welcome to apply to the Amalgamates Sport Club Committee for financial assistance. The ASC committee meet once a term in 3rd week. More information is available from the JCR Sports Rep and guidelines for applications are here.
Care Leaver and Estranged Students Bursaries
The University has a fund for first-degree UK students who are starting or continuing on an undergraduate course and who are care-experienced or estranged from their family. Eligible students are able to apply at any point in their course to Student Fees and Funding for bursaries up to a maximum of £3,000 per year and will continue to be eligible to apply for Oxford Hardship Fund, where this may be required in addition. Please contact Dr Nicole Jones or Lizzie Shine, Heads of Wellbeing, for details of the application process. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and assessed by the Student Fees and Funding team.
Armorel Fund
The Armorel Fund is an LMH travel award fund, administered by the JCR. It is open to both undergraduate and graduate students. It is not restricted to academic-related matters, and could be used for internships and general travel as well as study-related endeavours. The Coombe Fund
The Coombe Fund provides support to UK undergraduate Freshers and current undergraduates at LMH in financial need, helping to fund the costs of setting up for your studies at Oxford, e.g. buying a bicycle, laptop, books, sub fusc, and ‘smart’ clothing. Household-income-assessed grants of up to £1,000 are available. Who is eligible |
UK based freshers (1st Years) coming from a family with an income of below £42,875. Stand Alone/Independent students are of course eligible and encouraged to apply. Current undergraduates on course can also apply for help with unexpected expenses. |
