Gardens and grounds

The College's extensive gardens provide students, staff and visitors with a variety of beautiful spaces to enjoy. You can keep up with developments on our website: https://www.lmh.ox.ac.uk/gardens

The College Gardeners work hard to care for the grounds and would appreciate your help in keeping them in good condition.

Sports and games can be played near the river beyond the ditch and should not be played near the buildings.

There are benches throughout the grounds and wi fi extends to most areas near the buildings.  If you move any of the benches please return them to their original location; if you bring indoor furniture outside please return it when you have finished using it.

  • The Fellows’ Lawn in front of Deneke is reserved for the use of our Fellows.
  • The SCR terrace is reserved for members of the Senior Common Room.
  • By convention, no-one walks on the grass in the Wolfson Quad.
  • Please use the paths where possible in all areas

Within the hundreds of plants in the LMH gardens some are poisonous – never eat anything unless you are sure you know what it is.

Avoid our large trees in bad weather and strong winds - large branches and even whole trees can fall.
