International Students and Visiting Students

Visas

You should already have received comprehensive information regarding immigration procedures.  Information can be found on https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/visa/before?wssl=1.  If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact the Oxford University Immigration Office (student.immigration@admin.ox.ac.uk).

If you have applied for a student visa, you will need to arrange to collect your Biometric Residence Permit (BPR) before you arrive. You can find guidance on how to do this here: https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/getting-your-brp-if-you-applied-from-outside-the-uk. Most Freshers opt to pick up their BRPs from the Post Office in St Aldates, Oxford.

Oxford University orientation event

Oxford University Orientation events for international students take place at the same time as for home students at the Student Union Freshers' fair.  Further information can be found here https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/new/international?wssl=1.

Banking

All the national banks have branches in the centre of Oxford. A guide on opening a bank account for international students is available here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/new/international?wssl=1. In order to open a bank account, you will require an Enrolment Certificate which can be downloaded from student self-service on the Oxford University website once you have arrived in Oxford and enrolled.  Further information on this can be found in the ICT information section (https://core.web.ox.ac.uk/ict).  If you encounter any difficulties opening a bank account, please see the Academic Office (Visiting Students should see the Visiting Student Administrator).
