What LMH is doing

Our Catering department look to use local suppliers wherever possible to reduce food miles, and you might even find some items on the menu that have been grown in the College gardens. You will also find lots of produce that has been chosen for its sustainable food certification, including MSC and Fairtrade - LMH is jointly accredited as part of the Fairtrade University along with five other Colleges and some of the University Departments, which means that you will see lots of Fairtrade food items available in the Dining Hall, vending machines and catering services. You can find out more about Fairtrade here https://www.fairtrade.org.uk/ and through promotional events at LMH throughout the year.

We have also implemented a number of initiatives in line with the Sugar Smart Campaign and developed a food policy which focuses on nutrition, seasonality and sustainability. You will always find a daily vegan option in Hall and every Wednesday during term all dishes at lunchtime are vegetarian.

Get involved

LMH has partnered with Cultivate, a collective that delivers local, organic, ethical and waste-free vegetables, to bring LMH students and staff special prices and free delivery of weekly veg boxes to the College. Look out for more information coming soon about how to sign up this term.

You can also sign up for cooking skills classes with the JCR.
